Playa Del Carmen it was real! Anytime you can bring in your birthday in another country DO IT! 

I was in Playa Del Carmen this year celebrating the last year of my 20’s and all I can say is WOW. What a way to celebrate! The party scene there is on a different level! My goodness! But before I get into that let’s start with my stay.

I stayed at the Hilton Playa Del Carmen. This is an all inclusive adult only resort. This adult only escape is a beach front resort with ocean views, activities and it is located just steps away from fifth street. My main concern about this all inclusive resort was the food. I’ve been to an all inclusive before and the food was not good. I am happy to report that the food was really good. I was pleasantly surprised. The resort has multiple restaurants, bars and lounges that aim to please. But, If you’re a drinker like me then you may be a bit disappointed with the cocktails. I often wondered if any alcohol was in my drink at all majority of my stay. That being said, the resort does aim to please and they will happily provide you a shot with your cocktails. This should more than make up for what your cocktail may have been lacking. 

The resort also offers live music in the main lobby. You can enjoy your cocktails (or shots) while listening to live music as you enjoy the ocean view.  If that’s not your thing you can explore the streets of Playa Del Carmen. Fifth street specifically is located just steps away from the resort. Fifth street is filled with local bars, restaurants, boutiques and vendors. 

The great thing about this resort is you can enjoy unlimited food and beverages, non-motorized water sports, world-class service & amenities all for a really affordable price. 

Next up…excursions! I love doing activities on vacation that I’ve never done before. This time we did swimming with the turtles, Tulum Ruins, Mystic Adventure ATV’s and Cenotes Experience. All good choices. We found all of our activities through Viator. I like Viator because they offer a variety of activities, you can checkout reviews, they offer exclusive discounts, and they have a 24 hour cancellation policy. 

Swimming with the turtles was such a memorable experience. The turtles are so calm, friendly and unbothered. They are very used to people so there’s nothing to be afraid of. Swimming with the turtles included

• Entrance to the beach
• Bathrooms and showers
• Lockers

Tulum Ruins, Mystic Adventure ATV’s and Cenotes Experience was a package that we got through Viator.
This is a full day tour. 

First we explored the jungle by ATV. This was an adventure within itself. I had no idea what to expect with the ATV’s. Beware of getting really dirty! The jungle is filled with a bunch of rocky roads and mud puddles all of which you ride through on the ATV’s. Next up was swimming in natural cenotes (bat caves). Okay so this was a bit creepy, but I was open to the experience. We swam in the dark bat caves and saw all the beauty it had to offer. After that we had a authentic Mexican lunch which was included in the tour. It was delicious! 

Then it was off to visit the Mayan ruins. We had a tour guide that taught us all about Mayan history. We walked around and learned so much.  

It really helps widen your perspective of the Yucatan. On this tour you avoid hidden costs with lunch, gear, and entrance fees.

Okay now on to the most epic club night experience of my life! I’m going to do my best to describe this experience but believe me when I say…you just have to go and see for yourself. I’ve partied in Vegas which was great. I remember my 21st birthday in Vegas and I loved it. It was so much fun, it was filled with lots of theatrics and I had an awesome time. That being said, Vegas doesn’t even begin to compare. Two words..CoCo Bongo write it down, memorize it. Coco Bongo is by far the most animated club I’ve ever been to! There are endless choreographed performances and acrobatic shows, this club is unlike anywhere else. We splurged for the VIP gold member ticket and boy was it worth it. The VIP Gold Member ticket allows you to skip the line and receive express entry into Coco Bongo.

All in all Playa Del Carmen was a trip for the books. I’m so grateful I was able to experience it. This is one I’ll be telling my grandkids about!
