Hello, fellow travelers! Welcome back to my blog! Today, I’m thrilled to share my recent escapade to London—this time for my sister’s birthday. It was her first visit to this iconic city, and we packed our itinerary with unforgettable experiences. Join us as we explore the best of London!
Saturday: A Magical Start
London Eye: A Bird’s Eye View
We kicked off our adventure with a trip to the London Eye as our first stop, one of the city’s most recognized landmarks. The giant Ferris wheel offers stunning panoramic views of the Thames and the skyline. We booked our tickets in advance to avoid long lines, and it was absolutely worth it! As we rose high above the city, we could see famous sites like Tower of London, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. It was such a great view. I was glad to experience the London Eye. Although this was my second time in London it was my first time at the London Eye.
River Cruise: Scenic Serenity
After soaking in the breathtaking views, we took a short walk past all the food trucks and street performers and hopped on a river cruise along the Thames. This journey took us past beautiful landmarks, including the london bridge and the Shakespeare’s Globe. With a refreshing drink in hand, we enjoyed the gentle sway of the boat while taking countless pictures. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day full of excitement. One of the best things about these two activities is that you get to see so many major attractions in a short time. Tower bridge and all of the other sites really set the tone for adventure and excitement. was a great was to spend our first day in London.
Sunday: Celebrating in Style
Rooftop Bar at Savage Garden
Sunday was all about vibes! After brunch we went to Savage Garden, a rooftop bar located inside of Doubletree Hilton-Tower of London that offers stunning skyline views. The vibe was chic and vibrant, making it an ideal spot. It’s a great place for view and vibes. We had a couple of drinks while taking in the breathtaking views of London’s skyline. This place should definitely be on your london itinerary. The atmosphere was good both day and night making my sister’s first trip to London that much better.
Day Party at Blank Canvas
After drinks on the rooftop, we headed to a day party hosted by Blank Canvas at STK, a lively day party known for its vibrant atmosphere and great music. The energy was infectious, the music was good and the drinks were overpriced! It was very much like the Houston scene IFYKYK we stayed for a bit, we danced and enjoyed partying with the locals.
Monday: A Day of Luxury and Indulgence
Prada Cafe at Harrods
Monday was a day dedicated to luxury. We started our day at the Prada Cafe in Harrods. The ambiance was exquisite! This place is the perfect place for pictures…it feels so upscale and the decor is so eye catching. It’s so cute you may not even mind the extra cost,,, this place is not somewhere you go if you’re on a budget. If i’m honest London in general isn’t very budget friendly at all in my opinion. I guess that should be a given considering it does house a royal palace. But, It’s truly the cutest little cafe for bites and drinks. We savored our coffee and treats while browsing the lavish offerings of Harrods.
Afternoon Tea at The Georgian
Next, we indulged in a classic afternoon tea at The Georgian in Harrods. The elegant setting made this experience truly special. Also the live music truly added to the atmosphere. They sat us right next to the piano and it was lovely. We enjoyed an assortment of finger sandwiches, scones, and exquisite teas, all while soaking in the luxurious atmosphere. It was a perfect way to recharge before our next adventure.
Shopping on Oxford Street
No trip to London would be complete without a little shopping! We headed to Oxford Street, where we explored a mix of high-street and luxury shops. From Zara to Selfridges, we found plenty of treasures and souvenirs to take home. The vibrant energy of the street was contagious, and it felt amazing to shop in one of the world’s fashion capitals!
Birthday Dinner at Skylon
As the day came to a close, we prepared for my sister’s birthday dinner at Skylon located in the Royal Festival Hall. The restaurant offers stunning views of some iconic landmarks. We raised our glasses to my sister, celebrating her milestone.
Hookah at Blacklist
To cap off the night, we headed to Blacklist for some hookah. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a busy day. We chatted, laughed, and reflected on our amazing trip so far, savoring every moment.
Tuesday: A Cultural Exploration
National History Museum
Our final day began with a visit to the Natural History Museum. We took the train ( they have great public transportation) to south kensington and were immediately captivated by the impressive architecture. The exhibits were fascinating, and we spent hours exploring everything from dinosaur skeletons to ancient artifacts. It was both educational and entertaining, making it a highlight of our trip!
Hop-On Hop-Off Big Bus Tour
After the museum, we decided to take a hop-on hop-off bus tour to see more of the city. It was a fantastic way to explore London’s iconic sites at our own pace. There is so much worth seeing in this big city so the Big Bus Tour is a good option. As a first time visitor it’s a good way to see a ton of the main attractions and best places in London. We hopped off and headed to Buckingham Palace, where we admired the grandeur of the palace. It was a picture-perfect moment!
Conclusion: Unforgettable Memories
As our trip came to an end, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the wonderful memories we created together. London is truly a city that has something for everyone, and sharing these experiences with my sister made it all the more special. From breathtaking views to luxurious dining, this birthday adventure was a celebration we’ll cherish forever. In my opinion it was the best way to bring in another birthday.
If you’re planning a trip to London, I highly recommend following our itinerary for a blend of adventure, culture, and indulgence. Don’t forget to check out the experiences we enjoyed, as they made our trip unforgettable!
