Celebrating Mother’s Day with my mom is always a blessing! I hope all the moms enjoyed their day. Moms should be celebrated everyday…the sacrifices they make are unmatched. Women in general go through so much but being a mom is on another level. Men could neva! If I get to experience the magic of motherhood it would truly be a blessing. Growing up my mom taught me so much. I wouldn’t be the woman I am without her. The lessons she taught me are priceless. I carry those lessons with me in every aspect of my life. Three of the many things that my mom taught me…
My mom taught me to be independent. My mom has always been a hustler! Growing up she always provided for my sister and I. I always remember her working hard, making sure we had everything we needed and showing us what it meant to be truly independent. To this day I have always made sure I have my own. I never want to have to depend on anyone to provide for me. I can provide for myself…mama taught me that!
Another life lesson for the books…Letting go! I remember riding in the car with my mom. My boyfriend had just broken up with me (this was our first breakup but it wasn’t our last..smh) I told my mom that I wanted to sit down, talk to him and ask him if he was really sure that he didn’t want us to be together. Her immediate reaction was…why? She made it clear to me that if he made that decision then let him go. His loss! Sometimes as a young teenager you don’t always recognize your worth. In that moment it made me second guess why I ever second guessed things in the first place. Moral of the story..when someone wants to walk out of your life..let them go! Not everyone is meant to be in your life, and when they want to leave just know there are greater things in store!
My mom also taught me how to be a giver. She has always had such a good heart and a giving spirit. That was a big influence! I always want to be able to give back to those in need. I believe we are blessed to be a blessing! It’s one of the reasons why I push so hard to be successful. I want to influence and give back to people, especially those that look like me!
So to the original influencer..Mama you a real one and I love you!
Happy Mother’s Day!
