Let’s talk red wine and why you should be drinking more of it, in moderation of course!
Studies have shown that drinking red wine can actually be good for your heart. Red wine has the ability to help against heart disease, inflammation, and promote a longer life. Who knew? Red wine is filled with a antioxidant called resveratrol. Resveratrol can increase good cholesterol, prevent blood clots and protect the lining of blood vessels in the heart. Talk about a win win! A 2019 study reported that drinking red wine was linked to a lower overall risk in heart disease.
It’s all about the resveratrol! Resveratrol is found not only in red wine but also in grapes, peanuts, and certain berries. Research suggest that resveratrol also has anti inflammatory properties that prevent inflammation. Why is this important? I’m glad you asked when your body experiences too much inflammation it can lead to different diseases such as arthritis, asthma, diabetes and possibly mental illnesses.
Red wine has also been shown to increase longevity. Studies have shown that red wine can decrease stress levels. Not surprised to hear that at all. Lower stress levels help the bodies immune system thrive and prevents things such as high blood pressure, anxiety and depression. Ultimately drinking red wine again in moderation can lead to a longer life span. Excuse me while I go pour me a glass!
