I’ve been natural for years now. I can say it has truly been a journey. As I continue my journey I am constantly learning new things. When I first began it was a true struggle. Transitioning from getting a perm every 6 weeks to not at all was not easy. Looking back I think it was really one of the best decisions I could’ve made. The things I struggled with the most was finding products for my hair. Also finding hairstyles that I could actually execute well was another challenge.
For so many years I always stuck with rollers and Bantu knots. It seemed to be the only thing that really worked for my hair. I had tried doing a twist out before but it never seemed to work. After multiple times of trying and getting frustrated I’d given up. I was convinced that twist outs on 4c hair was impossible. That was until I discovered Uncle Funky’s Daughter. I had the pleasure of attending an Uncle Funky’s Daughter event. At the event there was a Q&A and I asked the question that I had been wanting to know the answer to for years. “Is it possible to achieve a twist out on 4C hair?” “I’ve tried multiple times and it just never works for me.” Little did I know the answer was YES. It is possible, with the right technique.
After talking to the hairstylist at the event I realized I was doing it all wrong. She talked me through the new technique of blowing out my hair before stylist my twist out. Now, this may have been nothing new to other women. But, for me this was the game changer that I’d been looking for! She also talked me through which Uncle Funky’s Daughter products to use. It wasn’t that I could’ve achieve it I just didn’t know how. I was also using the wrong products. After this new found information I was so anxious to try it. When I did, my twist out came out beautifully. I was so excited and relieved to know that my hair could achieve this look. It has been such an eye opener in my natural hair journey. I know that there are so many more possibilities when it comes to my 4C hair. Discovering what my hair is capable of makes me so excited for my future as I continue this journey. Thanks Uncle Funky’s Daughter!
