To say I’m excited about one of my favorite shows returning is an understatement.
Sex and the City has taught women so much which is one of the reasons why I love it so much. Well the lessons and the fashion of course…
A few things Sex and the City taught me:
-Putting yourself first is okay!
“I love you but I love me more”
– Samantha
This is something women often forget. We are such givers that we put ourselves last instead of first. Samantha taught us it’s ok to put yourself first if that’s what you feel is best for you. Don’t second guess what’s best for you. Putting yourself first is okay!
-The choice between children and career is yours, and yours alone
“I want to enjoy my success, not apologize for it.” – Miranda
I know the stereotype is for woman to get married and have children. There is nothing wrong with marriage and kids but there is also nothing wrong with wanting to have a career! Miranda worked hard at advancing in her career and she had no reason to apologize for it! At the end of the day do what makes you happy. Career, marriage, babies it’s your choice! You should never let people pressure you into anything other than what you want for your life.
-Everything happens in its own time
“I’ve been dating since I was fifteen! I’m exhausted! Where is he?”
– Charlotte
Dating can be hard and finding the right person takes time. No matter how soon you want something to happen life has a way of making you wait. Charlotte wanted to find true love so badly. She went through a lot of ups and downs before she found her soulmate. Moral of the story..everything happens in its own time..usually exactly how it’s suppose to.
-Love is Messy
“I’m someone who is looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can’t live without each other love.” – Carrie
There is no blueprint to love and we’re all just trying to figure it out. Carrie showed us that love is messy and unpredictable. Love can bring you so much joy and make a fool of you. You can’t help who you love. When you find true love you hold on to it no matter what!
