I was in need of a mental break so I decided to take a me cation for the weekend to Dallas! I really enjoyed myself and had a great time. The time away did me good. Dallas is a great city that has a thriving art and culture scene. It seemed to be the perfect place for a quick weekend getaway from Houston.
First let’s talk where to stay. I urge you to book rooms at The Lorenzo Hotel. This hotel was so much fun and it screams have a good time. It’s filled with vibrant artwork and a South beach resort style pool. It also has panoramic views of Downtown Dallas. It’s fun and a great place to stay if your in the Dallas or Fort Worth area. It’s in a great location near everythingI If you are looking to visit any of the ‘things to do” like the sixth floor museum, Dallas museum of art, Dallas world aquarium, Klyde warren park, Dallas farmers market it’s all within very close distance of some of the best places, best things and fun things to do in Dallas. After checking into my room I went downstairs to Hamilton’s (the hotel restaurant and bar) and the food was really good! I got the crab sliders and I was not disappointed. After grabbing lunch and shooting content I headed to the Downtown Dallas area to Reunion Tower. Since this was my first time in Dallas I really wanted to go. Reunion Tower is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. It’s a 561 ft tower with a view of the entire city of Dallas. I opted for the general admission ticket but you also have the option for the Dallas citypass to visit the attractions at your own pace over a 9 day period. The general admission ticket is 24.00 and the adult citypass is 54.00. It’s a pretty great view at night and it’s just one of the many things the big city has to offer. Saturday was all about exploring. I went to the ATT&T Discovery District it has a couple of interactive exhibits as well as restaurants/bars and a huge green space play area for the kiddos. It’s very family friendly and great way to spend a Saturday especially when the weather is nice.
After leaving the Discovery District I had brunch at Kitchen + Kocktails. Kitchen + Kocktails it’s a southern food restaurant. The food was great and it was absolutely a vibe with the live DJ! If you’re thinking of checking out this spot book a reservation because they get busy fast and it can be hard to get a table or even a seat at the bar. I also had a chance to visit the president john f. kennedy memorial plaza and learn a few things I didn’t know until this trip.
Dallas also has some fun nightlife. Saturday night I headed to Deep Ellum which is full of rooftop bars, live music venues, restaurants, food trucks and one of the best ways to spend a Saturday night in Dallas. I had fun bar hopping and eating some great food! Dallas is an excellent place for a quick little getaway and I will definitely be returning!
