Why Tulum is one of the best places in Mexico

If you ever thought about visiting Tulum, Mexico consider this as a sign to visit. You might just experience some of the best hotels, best restaurants, best time and best memories of your life. I recently went to Tulum with my sister to celebrate her birthday and it was the perfect place for us for this year. After visiting Playa Del Carmen in 2021 for my birthday we decided on the white sand and ocean views of Tulum. Mexico is one of the best places for a beautiful, quick and typically inexpensive getaway. It’s a great place to visit for so many reasons. Let’s start with the hotels there. Mexico offers everything from 5-star hotels, that adult-only hotel you’ve been dying to get to, beautiful rooms overlooking the best beaches, private plunge pools, and the best boutique hotels. Our Tulum hotel of choice…KAN Tulum! This hotel is everything that is serenity, peace and relaxation. The hotel is located in Tulum’s hotel zone. KAN is made with natural materials and is all about preserving the environment, sustainability, harmony, and positivity. You can feel the peace and tranquility in the air. It makes for a truly unique experience. All of the guest rooms have air conditioning, free wi-fi and a great soaking tub and waterfall shower head. The on-site restaurant offers free breakfast every morning. What I love about KAN is all of the fresh fruit and ingredients. The menu is 100% vegan with so many good options. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. I had multiple meals on the menu and there wasn’t a single one I wouldn’t eat again. The best way and the best area to enjoy breakfast is right beside the natural cenote waterfall. The cenote is not only beautiful but sitting in the cave and listening as the water falls is so relaxing. The property also has an outdoor swimming pool and on-site spa. So when you’re not at the pool sipping on a passion fruit beverage ( this was my favorite drink at the hotel 10/10) you can enjoy the spa treatments that KAN offers. I’m so glad we had the opportunity to stay at this lovely hotel. The spacious rooms, the main pool and the open-air restaurant surrounded by all of Tulum’s natural beauty was exactly what I needed.

If going 100% vegan on vacation is not for you, I completely understand. The good news, Tulum is filled with amazing, mouthwatering Mexican cuisine. I’m still dreaming about the chicken nachos I ate at Kal-hua bar and grill. Hands down…the best nachos of my life 10/10. If your looking for authentic Mexican cuisine then this place is a must. They have a huge menu and the food does not disappoint. Anytime I go to Tulum this will be a place that I go to. Another great spot with authentic Mexican cuisine is Taqueria La Rivera Costena. I ordered the chicken quesadillas and they were so fresh and so good. Their menu is more limited when it comes to options but I find it hard to believe that anything on the menu isn’t absolutely delicious.

Going out in Tulum has a vibe of it’s own. I enjoyed the nightlife. Clubs aren’t really our thing so a lounge with good music, food and drinks had our name written all over it. Our first night we went to a couple of lounge area spots. Spot one was Mistico Tulum, this hookah bar is in the heart of downtown Tulum. It’s a lively restaurant and hookah bar (very instagram worthy) It was a chill spot, good music and pretty good drinks. After Mistico we went to M Tulum hookah and pool lounge which is located literally down the street. This place was more of a party vibe and they have a full fire show and DJ. Also, if your hungry they have a menu and the kitchen stays open til about 1 am. We ordered the pizza which was undeniably delicious. After the fire show, hookah and a few drinks the DJ started playing all of the best hits! The dance floor was full and everyone was having a time! The energy was top notch and It was a whole vibe!

Another really popular place to go in Tulum is Taboo beach club. It’s a vibe for sure. The onsite restaurant and beach bar sits right on the beach. They have a full menu and live entertainment. It is a bit expensive running you about $80-$200 per person. The price depends on whether or not you get a table or a cabana. The cabana’s are close to the beach and they also have multiple table options some closer and some farther from the beach which determines the cost. On the plus side you do receive a full credit that can be used toward hookah, food and drinks which makes it a little more worth it. Taboo is Mediterranean based cuisine but they do have other options. I ordered the sushi which was a good call because it was really good.

For all my fit babes Tulum jungle gym is a great place to workout and capture some fun content. It’s located right off the beach. They have everything you need to get in a great workout while listening to the sounds of the ocean. What makes this place so unique is that nearly all of the equipment is made of wood. Think fred flint stone gym in 2023. It’s such a fun concept. If you plan on stopping by be sure to bring cash as it is a cash only based business.

We also got a chance to visit the famous Ahau tulum statue. It’s definitely an insta worthy spot and very popular! The statue is made from wood and plants. Fortunately, there wasn’t a long line when we went so we were able to get all of our photos with no issues. The cost is $10 per person. The statue is said to represent man’s delicate relationship with nature, which is what Tulum seems to be all about.

I’m so glad i was able to experience all of the natural beauty and presence that it Tulum. I’ll be back very soon!
